Sharing is an act of kindness that can bring people closer together. In the rescue world, it’s not uncommon to hear of bonded pairs, but it’s a rarity to find a bonded guinea pig and cat like Angel and Halo. Angel, a four-year-old white cat, and Halo, a two-year-old brown and white guinea pig, shared a life together with their owner in North Carolina. However, when their owner encountered personal issues, the only choice was to surrender the pair to CMPD Animal Care Control in Charlotte, North Carolina. This unexpected turn of events was tragic and stressful for Angel and Halo, but it brought them even closer to each other.
Courtesy of CMPD Animal Care Control, Julia Conner, an animal control officer, was surprised at how close Angel and Halo were when she first saw them. After 17 years in her career, she had never witnessed something so rare and unique before. However, apparently it’s not unheard of. The shelter staff allowed the bonded pair to share a cage since their previous owner insisted they be together. It was then that they saw how well the two got along. Often, the staff would catch the pair snuggled up to each other in the corner of their cage.
At the animal shelter, it’s not uncommon
Providing credit to CMPD Animal Care Control, it turns out that the perfect forever family was just around the corner. A woman and her son visited the shelter with the intention to adopt both animals. Interestingly enough, they had been following Angel and Halo’s story on Facebook. The boy had recently made the Honor Roll and his mother honored her promise to reward him for his hard work with a rescue pet – or in this case, two!
The CMPD Animal Care Control announced that Angel and Halo were recently adopted and have found their new forever home. The shelter shared the news on Facebook and mentioned that the duo is considering making a TikTok account to keep in touch with everyone. Although they had a rough start, Angel and Halo are now happily settled in with their new family. They can now look forward to a lifetime of love and attention from their new family and each other.
