It’s truly amazing that Lucy is here with us today. She was rescued around three months ago from a construction site in Bali where many dogs had mysteriously disappeared. Lucy was shocked when her rescuer found her, as she had a fishing wire tightly wrapped around her nose, a clear sign that she was being targeted for the illegal dog meat trade. Without hesitation, Lucy’s hero quickly took her to the vet for immediate care.
Lucy was discovered with a fishing line tightly wound around her nose, causing severe cuts. It is suspected that she was on her way to being used in the inhumane and cruel meat industry.
We rescued Lucy, a dog we found entangled in a fishing line, and took her to the vet to have it removed. However, her troubles were far from over as she was diagnosed with parvovirus, giving her only a 50/50 chance of survival. Despite the odds, we were determined to help her heal and give her a second chance at life.
Lucy finally found safety in a new location, but her journey was far from over. Despite being given only a coin-flip chance of survival due to parvovirus, she fought bravely under the care of veterinarians. Just as things started looking up, she tested positive for distemper, adding to her already tough battle. Against the odds, Lucy managed to bounce back after facing multiple health challenges. Despite her strength, the toll of the parvovirus left her frail and wary of humans.
However, Lucy showed immense resilience and strength. We made sure to provide her with nourishing bone broth through a syringe every few hours, giving her all the love and attention she needed as she had lost her appetite. Despite her physical recovery, Lucy still had a long way to go in terms of emotional healing. When we first rescued her, she was completely silent and avoided making eye contact with anyone. She would often retreat to the corner of her kennel, only coming out briefly to attend to her needs. It was evident that she had experienced significant trauma before coming to us, resulting in a deep-seated fear of humans.
With the help of veterinarians, foster parents, and a supportive community, Lucy started to recover from her trauma step by step.
Lucy has been under the care of Prue, who founded Mission Paws’ible, for a while now and has shown remarkable progress. Although still cautious, she is slowly turning into a happy and energetic dog. She loves playing with her furry friends and soaking up the sun. What’s even more heartwarming is that she now cuddles up on the sofa and sleeps comfortably with her pals, something she was hesitant to do in the beginning. Lucy has also rebuilt her trust in humans and other animals.
Lucy demonstrates the power of patience and love in transforming a life. She is hopeful for a bright future and is in search of her forever home. Mission Paws’ible is in the process of constructing The Healing Centre, a sanctuary where animals like Lucy can receive the care they need. This facility will offer a range of treatments, including natural raw meals, oil massages for hairless hounds, animal therapy music, personalized attention, and ample sunshine. Lucy’s story is a reminder of how compassion and dedication can truly make a difference.
