“Pawsome Tale of a Canine’s Perseverance: Owner’s Kindness Helps Dog Born Without Back Legs to Balance on Front Ones”

A lovely pooch, who was abandoned and left to perish, has now mastered the art of standing on her front legs, all thanks to her compassionate owner.

Putol, a six-year-old dog from Casiguran in Quezon City, Philippines, was born with a ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍɪᴛʏ that left her without the use of her two back legs. However, with the help of her owner Danilo Codilego Jr, a truck driver, Putol is now able to run with other dogs and explore the streets of her neighbourhood. Mr Codilego has helped Putol to balance on her own, and she has become a beloved figure in the community due to her brave and adventurous spirit. Putol was brought into Mr Codilego’s life by a co-worker who had four puppies.

According to Codilego, he and Putol have known each other for six years since the time he worked at a bakery. His co-worker brought in four puppies one day and tried to sell them for 5000 pesos each. While the other puppies found buyers, no one wanted the two-legged Putol because they doubted she would survive. Displaying compassion, Codilego decided to take care of her despite the risks. They named her Putol, as they couldn’t think of any other name.

During the initial years of her life, Putol was unable to walk on all fours. However, with time she gradually developed the skill of balancing herself on her front legs and became an expert at it. Presently, she serves as a guard dog for her owner and is highly protective of them. According to Codilego, whenever a stranger comes too close, Putol starts barking, just like a typical guard dog. Additionally, she displays a certain level of possessiveness towards her owner and gets jealous when they give their attention to other dogs. Despite these traits, Putol is quite friendly and well-liked by people in the neighborhood. Even when her owner has to go out for work, she faces no issues as everyone takes care of her. She is not a fussy eater and enjoys whatever food her owner eats. However, due to her condition, she cannot have any pups.
