In 2015, a pit bull that had been severely neglected was found in a Brooklyn park, and the animal rescue group AMA Animal Rescue in Brooklyn was notified. When rescuers arrived on the scene, they were horrified to see how badly the dog, named Norman, was injured. Norman had lost a lot of fur and was tied to a wall. He could hardly stand up, and rescuers could smell decaying flesh. This was the worst case of animal mistreatment that they had ever witnessed.
Despite his poor health, Norman was delighted to meet his rescuers. He seemed to recognize that they were there for him, as his tail immediately began wagging as they passed by.
Prior to releasing Norman, AM Animal Rescue provided him with nourishment. Once inside the car, the dog promptly snuggled up on a blanket and fell asleep.
In order to take care of his various health issues, Norman was brought to a veterinary facility.
The dog was not only underweight and had infected sores, but it was also deaf, blind, and had arthritis upon arrival. According to the veterinarian, the older dog was estimated to be around 10 years old, and it was evident that he had received very little affection and care throughout his lifetime.
