Sharing is a sign of caring! Share Legendary crochet skills not only keep you stylish and cozy but can also help those in need. Lady, a sweet former stray kitten from Wisconsin, can attest to that. She goes by Lady for short. Keep reading to discover how this sweet cat’s life was turned around by a simple act of kindness! Taking action, Lady was brought into the Dane County Humane Society last December as a stray. A veterinarian soon diagnosed her with chronic ear infections and a hematoma (blood collected in a pocket inside the body according to NASC). The vet determined that in order to relieve her chronic pain and infections, they would need to remove both of her ear flaps.
Courtesy of DCHS, Lady underwent surgeries to address her chronic ear infections that had caused blockage in her ear canals. Despite the visible absence of ears, Lady was finally free from pain and back to being healthy. However, the staff at Dane County Humane Society were concerned that her earless appearance would discourage potential adopters. To solve this issue, DCHS staff member Ash Collins crafted an adorable solution.
The story tells of Collins using her crocheting skills to make a beautiful pair of purple and white ears for Lady, a lovely gray cat. Lady happily sported her new accessory and pictures of her soon went viral, bringing national attention to her. A kind local brought Lady to Dane County Humane Society, where the clever and crafty staff not only helped her regain her health but also gave her a new home and a unique look. We hope Lady, who loves to head bump, is happy with her new owner and colorful ears. The story ends with a friendly reminder to adopt, not shop, for your future furry babies because those who look a little different still deserve a whole lot of love.
