Around a month back, Erica Whitesell, an advocate for kitten rescue and a veterinary technician, received a notification about an orphan kitten in dire need of help. The kitten was found all alone in a car dealership lot without a mother in sight. “The finders did the right thing by waiting and monitoring the situation to see if the mom came back, but she never did,” Erica shared with Love Meow. Upon seeing the plea for help, Erica didn’t hesitate to take on the kitten. “She was transported to me and I got to work.”

Parker, the newborn kitten, was discovered all alone in a car lot by Erica Whitesell. At only 5-6 days old, Parker was severely underweight and smaller than a typical newborn. It was clear that she had not been eating well for a couple of days, as she was nothing but skin and bones. Uncertainties arose during the first 24 hours due to Parker’s frailty and tiny size. Erica provided a warm and comfortable nest for her and immediately started bottle-feeding her every couple of hours.

Erica Whitesell witnessed a positive change in Parker’s behavior when he finally learned to latch onto a bottle. She noticed that Parker was extremely hungry and sucked down the formula as if he was trying to make up for lost time. Erica cautiously hoped that Parker just needed to catch up on his eating habits.

Parker awoke from her slumber to discover the world around her. Erica’s cat, Phoebe, was immediately curious upon hearing the sound of a new kitten in the house. As they were not quite ready for a proper introduction, Phoebe patiently waited outside the pen and kept a watchful eye on the new addition to the block.

According to Erica Whitsell, Phoebe used to sit outside her pen for hours watching Parker crawl and become more animated. Phoebe was obsessed with her tiny friend and couldn’t wait for Parker to be strong enough to come out and play.

Erica Whitsell shared with Love Meow that Phoebe was very kind and nurturing towards Parker from the moment they first met. Phoebe is helping Parker learn how to be a kitten, especially since hand-raised kittens without siblings have a lot of learning to do such as playing appropriately and reading other cats’ body language.

Phoebe motivates Parker to engage in playful activities and shares her feline skills with her. Parker has discovered the litter box by tracing Phoebe’s paw-steps. The adorable calico cat is fond of the grey kitten and often encourages her to play and venture out of her comfort zone to explore.

Erica Whitsell’s foster mother has taken great care of Parker, who has reached many milestones, and Phoebe provides him with a lot of support. When the two tire out from playing, Phoebe likes to wrap her arms around Parker as they fall asleep next to each other.

Phoebe is currently teaching the young kittens how to socialize with other cats. Her patience with Parker is remarkable as she demonstrates how to interact with other feline friends. Erica Whitesell is impressed with Phoebe’s nurturing behavior and how well she handles the young ones.
