Wisconsin Dog Found Tied to Fire Hydrant with a Note Gets Adopted

Good news is in store for a lovable canine residing in Wisconsin. The adorable doggo was discovered tied to a fire hydrant in a lively Green Bay area. Alongside the pupper, a backpack filled with essential doggy supplies and a heartfelt note from her previous owner were found.
According to Angela Speed, a representative from the Wisconsin Humane Society, the note provided valuable information about the furry friend. It revealed that her name was affectionately called ‘Baby Girl’ and her previous owner was facing severe medical challenges, making it impossible to continue caring for her. The sincere plea in the note asked for someone’s kind intervention to assist Baby Girl in her time of need.

According to a local CBS affiliate, WFRV, the backpack placed beside Baby Girl was filled with food, toys, and treats. Kylie Rose Engelhart, a woman passing by, noticed Baby Girl on Sunday and took a picture of the dog waiting next to the fire hydrant. Engelhart decided to wait with Baby Girl in case someone returned for her, but ultimately brought her to the Green Bay shelter run by WHS (Wisconsin Humane Society).

Baby Girl’s story has gained attention not only because of the heart-wrenching viral photo but also due to a heartfelt Facebook post from the animal rescue organization. The post begins by providing an update on Baby Girl, mentioning that she is doing well under the care of the shelter.

“At this moment, as Baby Girl’s story continues to gain recognition locally and beyond, we would like to direct our words to her previous owner,” the post states. “To begin with, we sincerely apologize for the fact that you had to part ways with your beloved companion. It is evident just how much you loved her, and despite facing your own medical complications and life’s challenges, you did everything within your power to provide for her.”

With that being said, the WHS strongly advises individuals who are no longer able to provide proper care for their pets to bring them to a shelter instead of abandoning them outdoors. Speed assures that at the shelter, you will be received with the same level of compassion and respect that we extend to the animals in our care. She emphasizes that they never want anyone to hesitate when seeking their services.

In an interview with HuffPost, Engelhart mentioned that she holds no grudges against Baby Girl’s previous owner. Her main focus is on spreading love for Baby Girl and ensuring that she finds a new loving home where she can thrive. Speed adds that finding a suitable home won’t pose much of a challenge for Baby Girl, as she is approximately 6 years old and known to be affectionate and delightful.

Described as a joyful young girl, she finds immense pleasure in going on strolls, engaging in playtime with toys, and displaying sheer excitement when she flawlessly executes a “sit” command in exchange for treats, according to Speed.
Once Baby Girl completes a few more veterinary examinations, she is expected to be available for adoption in the near future. During this time, the shelter is hopeful that the previous owner of Baby Girl stumbles upon their Facebook post and finds comfort in knowing that their beloved pet is in safe and caring hands.
In the heartfelt Facebook post, the shelter extends their best wishes to the former owner and expresses their hope that they can find solace in the fact that Baby Girl has a promising and promising future ahead.
