“20 and Thriving: Meet the World’s Oldest Golden Retriever Who Just Celebrated a Milestone Birthday”

Auggie, a beloved Golden Retriever, resides in Oakland, Tennessee with Steve and Jennifer Hetterscheidt. Six years ago, she was adopted from The GoldHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue, an organization located in Chester, Maryland, which focuses on rescuing and rehoming Golden and golden-mixed retrievers. They have been committed to this cause since 1999. Before becoming a part of the Hetterscheidt family, Auggie had been rehomed twice, through no fault of her own. Since then, she has been living her best life. Recently, Auggie turned 20 years old, which is monumental as it makes her the oldest Golden Retriever Dog ever. An amazing fact considering that most Golden Retrievers only live for 10-12 years. Despite her age, Auggie still has a long way to go and a lot of love to give.

Meet Auggie, the beloved Golden Retriever who resides with Steve and Jennifer Hetterscheidt in Oakland, Tennessee. This adorable canine was adopted six years ago from The GoldHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue, a nonprofit organization based in Chester, Maryland that specializes in rescuing Golden Retriever dogs. Founded in 1999, GoldHeart’s network of volunteers is dedicated to the rescue of Golden and golden-mixed retrievers that are unwanted, abused, neglected, or displaced and then placing them in approved forever homes.

Auggie had been rehomed twice before being taken in by the Hetterscheidt family but at no fault of her own, according to GoldHeart. Since then, she has been living a fulfilling and joyful life as part of the family. Recently, Auggie celebrated her 20th birthday, making her the oldest Golden Retriever dog ever!

Auggie was born on April 24, 2000. At the age of 14, it seemed unlikely that Auggie would find her forever home. Most Golden Retrievers live for 10-12 years, and many people aren’t interested in adopting a dog just to watch them pass away. However, Auggie defied the odds and proved that there was still so much more life for her to live.

According to Jennifer, Auggie’s fans will be pleased to know that despite being 20 years old, she is in excellent health. Although she experiences some shaking when she first stands up, she has no major mobility issues and happily goes for daily walks in the yard.

GoldHeart’s blog announced that a Golden Retriever named Augie has made history by becoming the first of its breed to live to the impressive age of twenty years old. While there have been tales of Goldens reaching seventeen, eighteen, or even nineteen years of age, Augie has surpassed them all.

According to Jennifer, Auggie’s diet is a combination of both wet and dry food, along with supplements that aid in reducing kidney problems. These issues were discovered when Auggie was adopted at the age of 14.

Happy Birthday Auggie! You truly deserve all the festivities and joy on this special day of yours.

GoldHeart’s Facebook page was buzzing with fans sending their happy birthday messages to auggie.

As of now, Auggie’s birthday post has garnered an impressive 13,000 comments and has been shared more than 28,000 times.

GoldHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue provides valuable tips to help your furry friend live a long and healthy life. While most Golden Retrievers have a lifespan of 10-12 years, some can live up to 17 years old. Here are their expert recommendations:

1. Consult with your veterinarian regularly and follow their advice as they know your dog’s health conditions and can offer the best recommendations to keep them healthy.

2. Pay close attention to your dog’s behavior and reactions. If they show any negative reactions to food or activities, change it up to accommodate their needs.

3. Provide your dog with quality food to ensure better health, mood, and reduce veterinarian expenses that could result from consuming poor quality food.

4. Regularly groom your golden retriever to maintain their hygiene and appearance, as well as prevent ear infections, gum and teeth problems, and various skin issues.

5. Exercise your golden retriever regularly to keep their heart and muscles strong.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your furry friend enjoys a longer and healthier life. The Hetterscheidt family and GoldHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue offer their appreciation for these helpful tips.
